Martin Luther King High
School has a tardy policy in order to maintain minimal classroom disruptions.
Consequences for students not arriving to class on time will include detention,
Saturday School, and/or suspension.
First period tardy policy:
-
Students arriving late to
school with an excused note will report to the attendance office.
Unexcused notes will be accepted, but a consequence will be given.
-
Students arriving to school
after 8:00 am (with or without a note) will report to the Attendance Office.
Without a note, students will receive a consequence. A note received
after the tardy will not change the consequence.
-
If the student does not
have a note and arrives before 8:00 am, he/she will report to class and
receive a teacher-administered consequence for the tardy. The student
will receive a detention for tardies one through three. In addition, the
parent must be contacted at least once during the first three tardies.
-
On the fourth unexcused
tardy, the student will receive a referral to the Attendance/Discipline Office
and the consequence will be an administrative detention.
-
On the fifth through the
seventh tardy the student will receive a referral to Attendance/Discipline
Office and the consequence will be Saturday School.
-
On the eighth tardy and
beyond, the student will receive a referral to Attendance/Discipline Office
and the consequence will be SSR/suspension.
Tardy policy for periods
two through six:
-
Tardies one through four
will be an administrative detention.
-
Tardies five through seven
will be a Saturday School.
-
On the eighth tardy and
beyond, the student will receive SSR/suspension.
